Stock Tie’s own Amanda Mayros

May I present to you…

The driven young entrepreneur,
Amanda Mayros!

12767491_823779761084089_466485972_nAmanda and her mother are the founders and creators of Stock Tie. Amanda, at the ripe old age of 22, has been riding and showing for years. She saw a financial problem with all of the show fees and fancy clothes fellow riders had to invest in so she started brain storming. She wanted to create a fashionable way for equestrians on a budget to stand out without breaking the bank. Then a brand was born, Stock Tie.

“I want to supply everyone with a fun & unique Stock Tie without breaking their banks, we all deserve to feel like $1000 bucks” – Amanda Mayros

Amanda grew up raised by her entrepreneurial family right outside of Detroit, Michigan. Finishing high school and then heading to school for entrepreneurship and a minor in business philosophy, which she is still currently working on, she is setting herself up for success! A wonderful foundation instilled by her parents and the current schooling, Amanda is prepared to conquer the world.

Of course, her story does not stop there! She is just as passionate about riding and conquering the world with her chestnut steed as her business. 12784816_823779791084086_1765428753_n Her chestnut steed goes by the name of Woody or Woodrow and what a pair they are. He helped he compete and create a deeper love for the OTTB horses. Woody was not her first OTTB however, she had the opportunity to save a slaughter house horse and compete him until he sold. There grew that passion for the OTTB’s lives even more.

With her past and current love for the OTTBs and her Stock Tie’s success,  Amanda has decided to make a great commitment to the OTTB community. If you look at the Stock Tie site or have visited the booth, you will notice one line of her Stock Ties is called “The Jockey”.  The Jockey line’s profits are all going towards OTTB rehab and rehoming opportunities. With so many thoroughbreds being bred, raced, sometimes thrown away and heading to slaughter, Amanda wanted to take initiative! She is currently accumulating funding to acquire her first rescue OTTB. With everything going, the well being of the animals around her is still one of her top priorities. Please help Stock Tie’s line “The Jockey” fund at least one OTTB into a new loving and safe home!

Watch for Amanda in the Barrington Saddlery booth at ROLEX, booth #104 right outside the covered area. Also watch for Leah Lang- Glusic sporting her lovely Stock Ties! Another fun tidbit she will be doing is an educational stock tying class. Find Amanda and some extra Stock Ties laying around to learn how to tie your own Stock Tie at 2pm this afternoon! If you want to wear it right, you’ll need this looking pretty little lesson.

Amanda has to be one of the most driven young entrepreneurs I have ever had the opportunity of talking to. Without a doubt, she is extremely passionate about her product. Having only had her first booth at the Richland Horse Trials in Richland, Michigan in the fall of 2015, her company is exploding! There is an absolute passion behind every move she makes and now incorporating the OTTB community into her business ventures makes the Stock Tie company hard not to back! Go support a great small company and cause all in the same dime!

Where can you find Stock Tie if you are not at ROLEX this weekend?

Equestrianista’s own Julie Frykman

Equestrianista you say?
Now that is a clever name!

May I present to you Julie Frykman of Roscoe, Illinois.
She is the founder and creator of the luxurious and affordable Equestiranista clothing line.

12755202_532881813560413_162237266_o

Who is Julie? She is a wife, busy mother and horse lover with a feisty red headed OTTB. As a young girl, Julie grew up with a barrel racing mother and her own horse 12767963_532882123560382_1444453763_oat the age of 6 years old. Riding before she could even walk, her first horse was a chestnut mare named Maggie and she learned more than she could have ever imagined from her. Fast forward a couple of years, Julie took a break from riding while she was attending college she completed a degree in fashion merchandising and design. When she returned home, she picked up riding once again and ventured down the path of Dressage. With her interest in Dressage and her new chestnut OTTB, they became fast Dressagistas (haha) and trail riders. While riding, she was always looking for clothing that could transition from street to saddle without much effort. Being that she was having a hard time finding anything she would like, she decided to create her own. So, to the drawing board she went! After a couple of design ideas, she made both of her passions blend to become a business. Now, with pride, she can walk around in “barn clothes” at the grocery store and so can we! She is an outstanding talent and passionate entrepreneur.

With her busy schedule as a business woman and mother, she sees Equestrianista as a way for more women to chase their dreams. It is not just a creative outlet but also a way to get women thinking towards their goals and to get her daughters involved. She hopes that her drive to make this business work shows her girls to be strong, independent, thoughtful and driven women. She hopes that they learn to know that any venture that they dream of, they can achieve it.

With the world being as it is today, Julie looks forward to the inspiration she can bring to others. Without a doubt, she is so extremely passionate about her daughters future and her businesses reach.

Life

How is it that Life always gets in the way?

If not simply because you spilled coffee on your way to work or on the large side, someone you know has become ill.

Life, what is life?

Life has its trials, tribulations, ups, downs, happiness and sadness but most of all, it has you and me in it, right now!

Today is an absolute gift, cherish it! We all need to “stop and spell the roses” more often.

It’s not about home much you work or how much you don’t, if you want to be happy, spend your life happy!

Life is what you create. Life is what you feel. Life is how you taste the reality around you.

Be true to who you are and live your life fully!
Just a thought for the day, Happy Sunday!

Love,

Laura

Fight or Flight

Fight or Flight

Fight-or-Flight-300x184

morethanaminute.com

We’ve all heard this simple but complex saying and typically associate this to our Equine partners. BUT, what if we stepped back and looked at ourselves this way?

Fight, what does it mean?

Does it mean, that you have the option to put on your gloves and climb in the ring? Or, does it mean that you’re going to climb that hill? Or, does it mean that you are going to keep going? It is all in your perspective. What I can say fight means to me however, is that I should fight to stay who I am and keep striving forward. How do you perceive “Fight” ?

Flight, what does it mean?

Does it mean, that you tuck your tail and run in the other direction of danger? Or, does it mean that you cower in the corner? Or, does it mean that figure out a different path away from the danger? It is again, all of your perspective. Flight to me means, I may back away from a situation but I think about a way to keep myself safe with a little strategizing and thought into the matter. How do your perceive “Flight” ?

As human beings we have the same reactions as our Equine friends, possibly a bit more complex, but think about it. Just a Tuesday night thought..

Stone Pony Browband’s, Lisa & Daughter Rachel Lawson

Hello and Happy March!

I would like to introduce to you,

Lisa Lawson & daughter Rachel Lawson

Lisa & Rachel Lawson

(Left) Lisa Lawson, (Right) Rachel Lawson

Lisa is the creator and owner of Stone Pony Browbands, while Rachel is the inspiration and networker of the exquisite browband line.

The company blossomed when one day Rachel requested teal, black, and white duct tape. Not only was she customizing her browband, she was putting a little idea into her mother’s head. Lisa started thinking about how to make her own horse’s bridle a little bit more exciting, (without the duct tape), and a gem of and idea sprouted!

That day, Stone Pony Browbands was created!

Who are these two lovely and talented women you may ask?

Lisa and Rachel are strong and empowering women. They have both had to persevere past some bad times and focus on the future together. Over 13 years ago, Lisa unexpectedly lost her husband and Rachel lost her father. Within those heartbreaking moments, Lisa and Rachel both looked to one another and to their horses for support. Their backyard farm was a familiar distraction where they went to escape. They would also escape for many hours trail riding through the peaceful Blue Ridge Mountains. There, on those trails, the love for horses grew and trail riding turned into Fox Hunting for Rachel. From there, with her mother’s support, she moved onto Eventing in her early teens. With Lisa by Rachel’s side every step of the way, they made quite the mother and daughter team.

Lisa Lawson Hand Painted Bird CageLisa has been a creative soul all of her life. She has worked in the art industry for many years, and was a member of a gallery in downtown Lexington, VA called Artists in Cahoots. Watercolor painting has always been one of her main passions, enjoying the freedom of the colors on the page and expressing her own touch of serenity to a project. Her artistic talents do not stop at watercolors however, she started working and creating jewelry in her twenties. She quickly realized that the Jewelry section was a popular addition to the gallery, always in demand and selling. Along with her watercolor paintings and jewelry being showcased at the gallery, she customized her own furniture at home. Loving interior design, she refurbishes furniture with her own unique touch. One of the main places you’ll find her custom designs is in her studio. There reside a pair of pink and blue finches, housed in a hand painted birdcage that Lisa also made. Her studio is, without a doubt, her sanctuary. With her birds and bouquet of flowers on her desk, she draws inspiration by bringing a bit of the outdoors in. The bouquet is seasonally hand picked straight from her garden and are typically Pink Roses. They are her absolute favorite.

Rachel has been a driven and motivated girl all of her life. From a two year old girl sitting on her first horse, to now a twenty four year old riding and training Fox Hunters, horses have always been a part of her life. She even went as far as to take a break from college after her first year to focus on riding and became a working student. At that point, she started competing more and looked for more riding growth. There she found herself packing up Temple, her buckskin Morgan mare, and heading towards Lynn Symansky’s facility. Over time, Lynn helped her grow exponentially as a rider and trainer. With all of these outstanding experiences however, her mother was struggling to financially support everything.

Lisa started brainstorming on how to subsidize her and her daughter’s passion. She began focusing on her own horse’s bridle and started by working with the popular “clincher” style browband. With her background in jewelry making, and some inspiration from Rachel’s colored tape alterations, Stone Pony Browbands was born! Her first step towards marketing the business was a Facebook page, followed by Rachel’s help displaying the new product on her own horse. Temple proudly donned some of the first designs and got the ball rolling. With Rachel’s experience, a great horse model, and networking possibilities in the eventing world, Stone Pony Browbands took off! You may have already seen some of these beautiful browbands prancing, galloping, leaping, and soaring around Rolex, Burley, and even W.E.G. (seen in the picture is Meghan O’Donoghue sporting a Stone Pony Browband at the 2015 ROLEX event).  Who would have thought that a few simple rolls of colored duct tape would have brought such a change to both Lisa and Rachel’s lives. What a dream ride this business venture has been.

Stone Pony Browbands has hundreds of customizable options.

As a customer you are able to pick the size and color of leather, gems, and crystals, along with the pattern you would like. The possibilities are only as limited as your creativity. Check out how to create your own gorgeous browband or get in touch with Lisa at the following link:

Impulsion’s only, Drew Dodge

Hello and Happy Day!

I would like to introduce you to the one and only Drew Dodge.12782284_797082050425455_1483421242_n

Drew is the Owner and Creator of the clever clothing line, Impulsion.

For you Midwest Eventers out there, I am sure you have seen him manning his table full of entertaining and enticing apparel. Bit of info though, the shirts, hats and beautiful horses is not all that he is there for. Check out who Drew is beyond his apparel company, Impulsion.

Who is this Midwest inhabiting businessman by the name of Drew Dodge? Well…

Drew is a driven and inspired entrepreneur who actually thought up the idea of Impulsion after his wife “T” started Eventing. As a supportive husband, he would attend the shows and of course do some window shopping at all the tack shops but there, he saw a problem. There were ONLY tack shops!

5297_517198045080525_6045157537721115087_n_1024x1024

Now, with his history of over 11 years with offset
printing and promotional products, he started brain storming. With his quirky sense of humor and printing knack, he quickly learned that there were quite a few people interested in what he had conjured up for his first products. Impulsion’s very 1st outing was at a Silverwood Horse Trial and I personally remember that 1st show, Impulsion was quite a hit! Example: the shirt to the left is obviously one that many Eventers can relate to! And there are sooooo much more!

Drew isn’t just about the fun apparel and horse show atmosphere. He can make some KILLER Beef Jerky, that seems to fly off his plate just as fast as this shirts from his table.(Drew added you can typically find one of his best friends, Kenny Dierks, helping himself to his fair share.) If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Impulsion booth, you will also probably notice, Drew’s Kindle is always within reach. An avid reader, Drew has swiped thru the pages or hundreds of books. And even though he may not ride, he is still a devoted animal lover. With 4 very much adored rescued Border Collies, 3 rescued barn cats, and 1 Savannah cat, he can most definitely say that he still fits right in with the rest of us!

With a great Eventing wife, a herd of pets, outstanding friends, and an entire Eventing community out there… Drew would love the support to see his Impulsion line soar further than the Midwest.

You will be able to find Drew’s Impulsion apparel at the following 2016 shows:

  • Spring Otter Creek (possibly check FB page for update on this show)
  • Penny Oaks June 2-5th

Goals 2 of 2

Happy Monday!

Goals, there are so many to think about, dream about, strive for, or even just imagine. So, let’s make those goals in your head come to life in a productive way!

Lets get MOVING!

  1. Making and mapping out a plan.
  2. Find a Goal that you can accomplish within that set amount of time and push for it!

Setting that Goal can be quite hard and honestly, sometimes scary. Do not let that hold you back! You have chosen your goal for a reason! Lets get MOVING!

Plan below is for a month long goal:

  • Week 1
    • Day 1: Sit down and start looking over your calendar, start planning.
    • Day 2: Take the second step forward towards your goal and start putting all that planning you wrote down into play.
    • Day 3: You may have an outside conflict come up but still keep your eye on your plan.
    • Day 4: Keep going!
    • Day 5: Keep going!
    • Day 6: Ught oh, it’s Saturday and you don’t want to get out of bed to follow your, well thought out, plan… welllll…. do you want to accomplish your goal? Get GOING!
    • Day 7: It has been a whole week by this point so you may be in quite the groove! Keep on rocking and rolling!
  • Week 2
    • Day 1: Have you been able to accomplish everything you had planned for week 1? If not, move only the Top Three things over. This is important, just for the fact of not over loading yourself. We do NOT want our goal to seem unobtainable just because we were not able to complete absolutely everything. Let’s be kind to ourselves!
    • Day 2: Push to get the hardest aspect of your plan that carried over from last week done first. Do Not push it off any longer. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to accomplish.
    • Day 3: Good job! Now that you have that out of the way, keep on moving forward.
    • Day 4: Set out to knock off another one of those carry overs.
    • Day 5: Keep going!
    • Day 6: Take that last roll over off the shelf and get it done! Remember, you are doing this for a reason!
    • Day 7: Another week complete!!
  • Week 3
    • Day 1: Move those rollovers again, but this time, knock out the hard one right away!
    • Day 2: Good work! You’re absolutely on a roll now, you’ve gotten this far!
    • Day 3: SOOOO CLOSE!
    • Day 4: Knock out all of the roll overs and get ready to start pushing full steam ahead!
    • Day 5: Full steam ahead! All of the work you have put into this past month has been absolutely worth it.
    • Day 6: Do NOT stop now! Even if you have a reputation of working all the way up to the almost finish and then stopping. That is NOT going to happen this time!
    • Day 7: Great Job!! You may only have a few days. Don’t let the days ahead look like an ocean you cannot cross.
      • Think about it. If you are seeing an ocean in front of you, why are you? Before you think to much into the “why are you?”, look behind you. Over the past few weeks, you have been building a boat to help you cross that ocean. So take a step forward and put your feet in the boat, seat on the bench ,and pick up those oars. You got this!
  • Week 4
    • Day 1: Get all of those roll overs done today! No breaks now, the Goal is within the week and absolutely in reach.
    • Day 2: Good work, spending some extra time getting all of those planning roll overs done has you more able to relax today. Have fun today and enjoy your soon to be accomplished goal!
    • Day 3: Keep on rockin’
    • Day 4: Whoooottttt whooooottttt here we come!
    • Day 5: You don’t care if it is Friday, you have come this far and you are going to accomplish everything you have set out to.
    • Day 6: Wake up early and write down everything you want to get done. Rewrite what you already had written and add another something small.
    • Day 7: Look back and take a nice long drawing breath. You have completed 4 weeks of progress towards your goal.
  • Week 5
    • Day 1: Guess what… YOU DID IT!!!

You are absolutely amazing and I hope that you know you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Approach everything with a bit of a plan. Even if plans don’t work out exactly how you have hoped, you can fall back, or you know you put forth an absolute effort.

Be proud of yourself! 1237986_4822960470599_1210806333_n

Love,
Laura
